Meals on Wheels will hold an Open House 2 p.m. – 4 p.m. Thursday, July 29, at its office in Easley, located at 704 Pendleton Street, Suite I.
The continuing growth of the Pickens County Meals on Wheels program forced the program to move for its longtime home at Grace United Methodist Church.
During the open house, refreshments, provided by Baptist Easley Hospital, will be served, and art by local artist Hillary Jernigan will on display. Pastor Jimmy Dillard of Grace United Methodist Church will be the special guest.
The Open House is a great way to teach the community about the work of the Meals on Wheels program.
There are several ways to help Meals on Wheels continued serving area Senior Citizens.
Several fundraisers are in the works for the
fall.
The third annual Sam Wyche Food Fight Bowl will be held Friday, Sept. 10. This unique fundraiser was created to harness the intense Blue Flame/Green Wave rivalry to help Pickens County Meals on Wheels. On the field, the two teams will compete for the Food Fight Trophy.
In the weeks leading up to the Pickens/Easley game, the two school’s student bodies will compete to see which team’s fans can raise the most money to benefit Meals on Wheels.
This year’s Pickens/Easley game will be played at Pickens’ Bruce Field. The game starts at 7:30 p.m. Friday, September 10.
The Pickens Ladies Golf Association will hold their annual Meals on Wheels benefit golf tournament Friday, September 17.
There are a number of ways the public can participate in this tournament: form a team to play in the tournament, donate door prizes, sponsor a whole or become a corporate sponsor.
Call Meals on Wheels at 855-3770, or visit www.pcmow.org for more information on the tournament.
