EASLEY — For most teams, participating in a tournament for a world championship is a new experience, but many members of the Philippines team, it’s becoming “old hat.”

For several members of this year’s Asia-Pacific champions, this will be the fourth straight year they have competed in a world series.

In 2007, the Philippines team went to the championship game of the Junior League World Series in Taylor, Mich., before falling to Hawaii 6-2.

The Philippines was 4-0 in pool play and defeated Canada in the semi-finals to earn its spot in the championship game.

The team was less successful in 2008, when they were 0-4 in the Senior League World Series in Bangor Maine.

In 2009, the Philippines returned to Bangor for the Senior League World Series. The team was 3-1 in pool play, placing second in Pool B. They lost 6-1 to Houston in the semi-finals.

This year’s team opened BLWS play Wednesday with a 6-2 loss to Puerto Rico. The Philippines plays Puerto Rico 11:30 a.m. Friday.
