Editor, The Progress:

New EPA regulations will stop industries and business from establishing in Pickens and other upstate counties. August 31, 2010 these new regulations are expected to be finalized by the Feds and implemented by DHEC in SC. Because of Pickens’ natural topography and air flow, we can never meet these regulations and will be a non-attainment county. In essence, the EPA and DHEC are legislating against nature.

What this means to us: No New Jobs, higher taxes, more fees/penalties, greater property restrictions and higher costs for necessities, i.e. food, housing, vehicles, fuel, utilities, etc.

What can we do? Contact our legislators, requiring them to take a stand against these regulations. If they do not side with the citizens against the Agencies, than Pickens County and neighboring counties should keep our County monies in our Counties, refusing to send monies to the State.
