Roy B. Costner III and Ben Trotter have both filed for the office.
Costner is the heart and soul of the popular “Liberty Idol” contest that is held every year in downtown Liberty.
Trotter is a former Pickens County Councilman, and has also served on the Pickens County Planning Commission.
Filing for School Board seats 2, 4 and 6 opened Aug. 2 and will continue to be open until noon, Aug. 16.
District 2 incumbent B.J. Skelton and District 6 incumbent Jim Shelton filed for re-election Aug. 2.
Both Costner and Trotter filed for office on Aug. 3. District 4 incumbent Oscar Thorsland has yet to file or announce his intentions.
The School Board seats are non-partisan with no party affiliation listed on the ballot. The seats will be part of the general election Nov. 2.
Filing fee for the office is $120. Checks should be made out to the Pickens County Treasurer.
Anyone wishing to be a candidate for one of the seats should file at the office of the Registration and Elections Commissions, 222 McDaniel Ave., B-9, Pickens during normal business hours, 8 a.m.-5 p.m. Monday-Friday.
At the time of filling, candidates must complete a Statement of Candidacy form, pay the filing fee and present proof that they have file their Statement of Economic Interests form online.
