PICKENS COUNTY — The Pickens County YMCA is celebrating its 50th anniversary. Sid Collins, CEO of the Pickens County YMCA, stated, “Over the past 50 years, this community has supported and believed in the mission of the YMCA. In 1957, the Easley community leaders saw a need in this community for the Y and for 50 years, the Y has achieved their vision by meeting those needs of thousands of people.” In honor of this milestone two special events will take place.

A free community wide event is planned for August 28th. The festivities will take place at the Easley facility located at 201 Burns Road from 10am to 6pm. The first 200 people between 11am to 2pm will receive a free hot dog plate. There will be music, giveaways, water inflatables for the kids, and games throughout the day. There will also be a cornhole tournament that will take place at 2 p.m. Everyone is invited to attend. Please come and enjoy this day of food, fun and festivities. For more information call 855-9622.

A formal dinner to memorialize the 50 year anniversary will take place on October 1st at 6:30 p.m. This celebration will be held at the Southern Wesleyan University Founders’ Hall.

Tickets for the dinner are $65 per person and can be purchased at the Member Services desk at either the Easley or Pickens facility’s of the Pickens County YMCA. The event will showcase the Pickens County YMCA’s past, present and future.
