LIBERTY — An Easley legend will now be coaching girls basketball at Liberty High School.

Liberty High School athletic director Sherry Haithcock announced that Tammy Winchester is the new coach for the Red Devil’s girls basketball team.

Winchester is an Easley High School graduate, where she was a three-sport athlete. Winchester has already been inducted into the Easley High School Hall of fame.

She played volleyball, softball and basketball at Southern Wesleyan University.

Winchester posted a 152-80 record in 13 seasons at Oglethorpe High School (Lexington, Ga.), leading her team to the state playoffs for six straight seasons.

Most recently, Winchester has coached softball at her alma mater, Easley High School.

“Liberty High School is excited to have her lead our girls’ basketball program,” Haithcock said.
