According to a press release sent out by the school district, teachers were allowed in their classrooms following an 11:30 a.m. faculty meeting.
District officials said school would start on time for EHS students after the district and school administrators visually inspected all areas of the building Monday morning.
“The building is very clean, and we are confident that the issues have been resolved,” said district superintendent Dr. Henry Hunt. “We will continue to monitor the air quality.”
Nineteen classrooms of the 1979 EHS classroom building were cleaned last week after an HVAC technician noticed the problem and reported it to the district.
“I’ve been very impressed with the teachers and their attitudes during this situation,” said EHS principal Dr. Danny Merck. “They have made the best of the situation, and I appreciate their patience and cooperation.
EHS was the first of two schools to be cleaned by E. Luke Green Company. They headed to R.C. Edwards Middle School on Monday afternoon to begin the clean-up process there in the gymnasium. No school delay for R.C. Edwards is necessary due to the mold and mildew problem residing in the gymnasium only.
Easley High’s open house took place on schedule on Monday night and school began Tuesday morning.
