Firefighters responds to house blaze

EASLEY – The Easley Fire Department responded to a house fire on Friday morning and no smoke detectors were present in the residence at the time of the fire.

The fire department responded to 121 West Hamilton St. in Easley at 11:10 a.m.

According to a press release from the Easley Fire Department, the residence suffered heavy damage as a result of the fire.

Firemen had the fire under control within about 20 minutes. Easley Combined Utilities, and Pickens County EMS also responded to the scene of the fire.

There were no reported injuries to civilians or firefighters due to the incident, according to the report. The American Red Cross responded to assist the members of the household.

No smoke detectors were present at the time of the fire, according to Capt. Barry Bridges.

The cause of the fire is currently under investigation by the Pickens County Sheriff’s Office, according to the report.
