PICKENS – A Six Mile man was pronounced dead after a late Monday night wreck, according to a press release from Pickens County Coroner Kandy Kelley.

Eddie Grant, 49, of 3016 Walhalla Hwy., Six Mile died in an accident at 673 E. Preston McDaniel Rd. in Pickens at 11:10 p.m. Monday.

Kelley said an unrestrained driver of a ford pickup truck was traveling West on E. Preston McDaniel when the truck left the roadway, flipped and landed in a creek.

Grant was ejected from the truck and was discovered submerged in the creek partially under the truck, the release said.

Kelley said Grant was pronounced dead at the scene at 11:58 a.m. on Tuesday morning. An autopsy was preformed at Greenville Memorial Hospital. Results will take six to eight weeks.

The accident is being investigated by the South Carolina Highway Patrol.
