Liberty woman dies after single-car accident on U.S. 123

LIBERTY — A Liberty woman died after a single-car accident Thursday morning.

Katrina Ellenburg, 30, of 701 Anderson Highway, Liberty, died at the scene of the accident, which occurred at 7:53 a.m. on U.S. 123, just north of Cartee Road, said Lance Cpl. Bill Rhyne with the South Carolina Highway Patrol.

Ellenburg was driving a 2002 Honda van north when her vehicle ran off the left side of the roadway, over-corrected, and left the right side of the road, striking a tree, he said.

Pickens County Coroner Kandy Kelley said that

Ellenburg was wearing a seat belt and died from blunt force injuries.

The South Carolina Highway Patrol is investigating the accident.
