The Lions defeated Westside 28-17 at Easley’s Brice Field in the first of two “home” games scheduled for Daniel this season.
Singleton Field, Daniel’s former home field, is being destroyed to make room for the new Daniel High School building.
Until a new field can be constructed, the Lions are either playing “home” games at Easley’s Brice Field, or — move often — play “road” games.
Daniel’s only other “home” game is scheduled for Oct. 15 against Belton-Honea Path.
Until then, Daniel will return to being “road warriors.”
Southside is the first of two AA schools on Daniel’s schedule. Next Friday Daniel will renew its rivalry with Pendleton before beginning play in the Western AAA.
Things are not going for the Tigers, who are 0-3 for the 2010 season. Worse yet, in the last two games, Southside has lost to neighboring schools J.L. Mann and Carolina by a total score os 95-12.
Soutside lost to Daniel 19-8 last season. A score that close seems unlikely tonight.
