PICKENS COUNTY — A driver died in a crash Thursday evening, according to the South Carolina Highway Patrol.

According to Lance Corporal Tyler Tidwell with the South Carolina Highway Patrol, the crash happened on Adams Road near Kilt Lane, approximately 2.5 miles west of Pickens County.

Tidwell says that the driver was headed north in a 1991 Honda Accord on Adams Road when they went off the left side of the road, struck a fence, and then struck a tree.

The Pickens County Coroner Office has identified the driver as 52-year-old Tony Dale Searcy.

According to the coroner, Searcy was not wearing a seatbelt during the time of the crash.

The coroner says that Searcy died from blunt force trauma and was pronounced dead on the scene.

This crash is being investigated by the South Carolina Highway Patrol.
