CLEMSON — Pickens County Habitat for Humanity (PCHFH) has been awarded a $2,000 Spark Good Local Grant from Walmart.org, funding that will directly support the organization’s annual Homecoming Build in Clemson.
The Homecoming Build is a hallmark tradition where Clemson University students and community volunteers raise the walls of a Habitat home during Homecoming Week. Led by PCHFH’s Campus Chapter, this student-driven build is a nationally recognized model of campus and community partnership. Each year hundreds of volunteers come together to provide affordable housing in Pickens County.
“We’re grateful to the team at the Easley Walmart for supporting this year’s Homecoming Build,” said Tamara Dourney, Executive Director of PCHFH. “Their investment brings people together, strengthens community ties, and creates lasting change for a local family.”
Funds from the Spark Good Local Grant will go directly toward building materials and construction support for the 2025 Homecoming Build home. That home will provide safe, stable, and affordable housing for a local family.
Since 1981, PCHFH has built more than 100 homes, creating lasting homeownership opportunities for more than 325 individuals. The Spark Good Local Grant strengthens this legacy and helps ensure that the annual Homecoming Build continues to thrive as a community cornerstone.
