Dear Anonymous,

Yesterday, I rushed to the Easley Post Office to see if any year end gifts had arrived. It has become a holiday tradition for me. I am either bursting with excitement or dejected and worried about funding. There is no happy medium … until yesterday, when your very generous check arrived … anonymous.

Wow!!! You must really believe in our work to make such an impactful donation. We really appreciate it and believe me, it’s needed. But who are you?

I pride myself on making our donors feel loved and valued because they are. To know that today, I will deposit your check without knowing who you are, it’s killing me.

Well, I am going to take my stellar relationship with the Sentinel Progress and publish my thank you letter to you… my dear anonymous donor. You know who you are … I DON’T!

Did you know that you are supporting one of our newest programs called Pathways? It’s a one on one coaching program to teach hard working families how to navigate the complicated world of personal finance. Your generosity will lift a family out of poverty and change their future forever.

You may be the one person that helps a struggling reader get back on track to succeed in school…and in life. Trust me when I tell you, children have really suffered academically and emotionally through the past two years of COVID. There is nothing better when the light bulb comes on and a kid realizes they CAN read. It’s a glorious moment.

So, thank you, Anonymous. Thank you for your compassion and caring.

Thank you for the hope you so generously give to families who need your help. Their appreciation is immeasurable.

As a member of our caring family, I invite you to stay connected to us on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram. If social media isn’t your thing, you can always check for updates on our website, www.uwpickens.org. Finally, you can always email me at jcapaldi@uwpickens.org with any questions. If you crave human connection as much as me, my cell phone number is 864-420-1635.

Despite not knowing who you are, your generosity will change the future of folks who so desperately want a better life the themselves and their families. Isn’t that what we all want?

With deep appreciation,

Julie Capaldi

President

PS: I know there are many worthy charities that ask for your help. Please know how honored we are that you’ve chosen to support the work of United Way of Pickens County … and despite rumors otherwise, I CAN KEEP A SECRET!
