EASLEY — Since 1991, the local band Eaglewing has been performing with different line-ups.

Local music enthusiasts will get to hear them play once again at the upcoming Spring Fling on April 5. They will be performing from 12:30 p.m. to 2 p.m. in downtown Easley.

They’ve also played at the Easley 4th of July Festival, Rhythm on the River, Amici Easley, and New Realm Brewing Greenville.

The current band members of Eaglewing include: Morris Ward (Vocals, Piano, Guitar, Drums), Chris Cooper (Vocals, Acoustic Guitar), Patrick Campbell (Vocals, Lead Guitar), Jeremy Bigham (Vocals, Drums, Guitar) and Kendall Haskett (Bass Guitar). They’ve played all types of music with classic rock, Country, Southern, Motown and an Eagles Tribute.

Ward took some time to reflect on the local band.

Q: What was it like for you and your band playing last year at the Spring Fling?

WARD: Always a fun atmosphere and appreciative audience.

Q: Who is a musician or group that you idolized growing up and why?

WARD: Eagles, of course, Lynyrd Skynyrd, Bob Seger. Just loved that style of music and those are the best at what they do.

Q: You said that you have a special Eagles tribute. Can you elaborate on that?

WARD: We pay tribute to America’s best band, the Eagles, with a one hour set of some of their greatest tunes. Songs that are the soundtrack of generations of listeners.

Q: What would you like to say to music fans if they have never heard your group and are thinking about hearing you guys play at the Spring Fling?

WARD: Our goal is for you to have the best time possible! We pride ourselves on recreating the closest version of original Eagles music and vocals as possible. The songs we choose to perform are classic tunes in a variety of genres with rich harmonies and lots of energy!

Q: You said that all five of you guys can also sing well. What’s that like and how has that helped your selection of songs to play?

WARD: I’ve always gravitated towards groups with lots of harmony. It’s necessary for everyone to sing in order to pull off the Eagles.
