LIBERTY — Keyshawn King has left his mark in Track and Field — not only at Liberty High School — but at Stanford University and in the state of South Carolina.

Yet, he doesn’t forget his roots at Liberty High School.

“My time at Liberty was very formative,” said the 25-year-old King, who was recently inducted into the LHS Hall of Fame, “And it was nice to have good athletes around me like Cole Murphy. I know it made me a better person and athlete. There were a lot of exposure meets that they (LHS) supported me going to.”

King has always gone the extra mile in the classroom, too, with a 4.996 grade point average at LHS and a 3.67 GPA.

His advice to upcoming athletes at LHS: “Stay as focused as you possibly can. School and grades are important. Put your best foot forward in school and in the classroom. Stay curious and stay hungry, and wanting to grow,” he said.

He was recently inducted into the LHS Hall of Fame.

One of his most remarkable achievements at LHS was when he was ranked the No. 1 high school triple jumper in all of the United States. Plus, he was recognized as the South Carolina Boys Gatorade Track and Field Athlete of the Year, which is a prestigious honor that solidified his place as one of the best athletes in the country for Track and Field.

King competed in track at Stanford University from 2018-22 and he still holds the triple jump record at 55 feet, 1/4 inches.

The legacy that King has left at Liberty High School is second to none. He’s left his mark!

“He (King) was the embodiment of a student athlete,” said Liberty Athletic Director Jonathan Dilworth. “He reached the pinnacle of track and field success. He was also a very stand-up individual. High character, an extremely hard worker and very humble. He’s always got a smile on his face. When he left Liberty, he left a huge impact on the school and the community.”

King currently resides in Atlanta, Georgia but he won’t forget his roots in Liberty.
