DACUSVILLE — Parker District Fire Department in Greenville announced on Saturday morning that engineer Aaron Parris and his wife Christy had lost their home overnight. The department said they were next door at a neighbor’s house when the fire started and noticed it while returning.

“Aaron quickly went into firefighter mode and was able to successfully rescue their dog but he did receive some injuries that required some stitches but he is doing well considering,” a statement from the department read. “Please keep them in your thoughts and prayers as they start the process of rebuilding their home and their lives.”

“Special thanks goes to Dacusville, Pumpkintown, Crosswell and Slater Marietta Fire Departments for responding to one of our own for help,” the statement continued. “They have a great support group here at Parker District Fire and we will get them any help they need.”

Parris is a sergeant with the Dacusville Fire Department.

Details on a possible cause for the fire have not yet been released.

A gofundme set up for the Parris family has raised over $10,000 in just 48 hours.
