POWDERSVILLE — The Anderson County Sheriff’s Office said a student at Powdersville High School had been arrested following a threat of violence at the school.

In a released statement, ACSO officials said the school resource officer was notified of a possible threat toward the high school on Tuesday, prompting investigation.

According to the report, the unidentified minor student alluded to a school shooting after becoming angry in class.

Both school officials and the SRO stated they did not believe the threat posed actual danger to students, staff or the school.

ACSO deputies charged the student with making the threat who was detained and referred to the state Department of Juvenile Justice, they said.
