PICKENS COUNTY — Southern Wesleyan Men’s Basketball and Head Coach Joel Stites are excited to announce the next four signees in the 2024 Men’s Basketball signing class. The Warriors will welcome Christopher Osobaye, Alex Tavares, Kenyon Addie and Jackson Moore to Central, South Carolina this coming fall.
C oOsobayeThe Warriors will welcome Christopher Osobaye from Bronx, New York. Osobaye has played as both a wing and a forward at the Carolina Basketball Academy. When asked what he loved about the game, Osobaye commented, “A kid like me, man, I love the game. I love to hustle.”
“Christopher is a dude,” said Head Coach Joel Stites. “He can really play! He’s strong and can play down low and stretch out as well. He can do so many things. He’s also a stellar student that works really hard. Being from the Bronx, I know he’s coming to work. I’m expecting him to turn a lot of heads! We are really excited to have this young man on our campus!”
A TavaresJoining Osobaye is transfer athlete Alex Tavares. Tavares is from Portsmouth, New Hampshire where he attended Portsmouth High School. After high school, the guard and forward went to Great Bay Community College. He then transitioned to Division I University of New Hampshire. He played in five games during his junior season at New Hampshire. In his debut against Curry on November 8 he recorded three assists, two rebounds and one steal. Tavares said, “tomorrow is a new day,” when asked about joining the Warriors.
His favorite Bible verse is Philippians 4:13. The verse reads, “I can do all this though him who gives me strength.”
“Alex caught my eye at a showcase where I was recruiting another player,” said Coach Stites. “He is very mature and worked his tail off at New Hampshire. His time at a D1 program should bring a different perspective to our locker room. I’m not sure if anyone else wanted to be in this class more than Alex. He will bring in a business mindset.”
J MooreFreshman Jackson Moore will join the Warriors from Northport, Alabama. He attended Tuscaloosa County High School where he served as a point guard. His sister, Ellie Moore, currently plays on the Warriors Volleyball team as an outside and right-sided hitter. Moore’s favorite quote says, “winning comes before ever stepping on the court.”
“Jackson is a really great young man,” commented Stites. “He’s very introspective and a real student of the game. I’m excited to see him grow and develop into a player who will make Southern Wesleyan proud!”
K AddieSouthern Wesleyan’s next signee is Kenyon Addie. Addie will join the Warriors via Charlotte, North Carolina where he attended Westminster Catawba Christian School. There he served as a shooting guard.
“Kenyon is a great player and a great fit at Southern Wesleyan,” mentioned Coach Stites. “He’s coming in from a lauded Private Christian school. He’s a 1000 point scorer and a 4.0+ gpa guy. He’s a Coach’s son who is just now starting to fully concentrate on just basketball. I’m excited to see him grow and excel here! I know we will see it on and off the court!”
