Parents across the state have demonstrated that citizens who were willing to share their time and had the desire to help others could make a lasting, positive impact in their community by becoming a resource foster parent.
If you are 21 years of age or better, can pass multiple criminal checks and willing to put your knowledge, new and old skills and experience you’ve learned to work helping children who have exceptional needs, make the decision others just like you have made and become a Therapeutic Foster Parent. You will receive training, support and a monthly stipend once licensed.
Currently there are nearly 1,200 children in foster care in the upstate of South Carolina. Many of the children in care are between the ages of 10 and 18. These children need patience, understanding and healthy connections a resource foster parent can offer.
If you are not able to give a full-time commitment but would like to become a foster parent we have an option for you. Respite cares is an option for many families interested in becoming a foster parent but are unable to make a full time commitment at this time.
Foster care-respite care offers part time care to children in foster care and allows for full time foster parents to take a break, a vacation or temporarily care for a love one. All respite foster parents receive the same training and support as full time foster parents.
Consider it, learn more and determine if you hold the key to unlock a child’s future.
