EASLEY — With 112 entries, Easley’s 2024 Christmas Parade of Lights was one of the biggest in recent memory and drew crowds from all over the Upstate to the downtown area.
Presented by the Greater Easley Chamber of Commerce and Hendricks Honda, this year’s parade featured Grand Marshall Cindy Hopkins, who recently retired as President of the Greater Easley Chamber of Commerce.
Spectators were treated to not one, but three bands along the route: The Easley High School Marching Band, Powdersville High School Marching Band and The Easley Community Band, which began in 2014, as a revitalization of a previous civic band that had operated in Easley many years ago.
Easley Mayor Lisa Talbert and City Council members waved to the crowds along with Rep. Neal Collins and Sen. Lindsey Graham. Antique cars and beauty queens and Scouting troops tossed out candy canes and Christmas tree cakes and lollipops (even though you weren’t supposed to — but where’s the fun in that?)
An Easley Combined Utilities float featured linemen — an addition of particular significance following the damage done by Hurricane Helene.
Hobbs Family Karate had a sword fight break out along the route and Beasley the beagle made a celebrity guest appearence. Easley High and Gettys football players, cheerleaders and Parks & Rec kids all waved or sang Christmas carols until the big man himself — Santa — closed out the parade from the top of a firetruck.
Merry Christmas!
