EASLEY — If you have not been to an American Legion baseball game yet this summer, then you should circle the date of Monday, July 14.

Members of Post 52 are going all out in celebrating 100 years of American Legion baseball. They are hosting Rock Hill on that night at 7 p.m. at Alice Mill Park. Admission is only $5 (regularly $6). Plus, former legion players will be honored at 6:30 p.m. on that night.

“It’s awesome they are celebrating it,” said Easley Legion coach Jonathan Hall. “It means a lot. Not only for our local post, but nationally as well. Hopefully, we’ll get some people out here.”

Continued Coach Hall, “If you played somewhere in Ohio or Georgia, please come out. Just come out and enjoy some good baseball and support this team — we had some tough losses early, but I think the guys are seeing it and are hitting our stride.”

Dan Frawley, from The Easley American Legion, has played a big part in promoting Post 52 baseball in Easley. Frawley often runs “the gate.”

“We’ve added hamburgers to the menu,” Frawley said.

And about the “fan favorite” of chili dogs, Frawley said, “They are advertised as the best chili dogs in the state.”

More fireworks? Frawley did not want to promise anything. Yet, local folks in Easley could see more fireworks on Monday night at Alice Mill Park.

“We are hoping to have some fireworks at the end of the game,” Frawley said, all fired up about it.
